FIVE
PROPOSALS RECEIVED FOR PROJECTS UTILIZING CDBG FUNDS
Frederick,
Md. --- In late October the City of Frederick sought
proposals from community organizations, housing providers,
lenders and developers to use $500,000 of Community
Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds towards projects
focusing on affordable housing. Proposals were due to
the City by November 24th. The City is pleased to announce
the following five viable submittals:
Habitat
for Humanities
$2,400 request
For site preparation work at B&O Avenue on a single-family
replacement home
Venezia
Properties
$60,000 request
For land acquisition for Site G (rental units, 6 for
sale)
Interfaith
Housing of Western Maryland
$130,000 request
For land acquisition for Monoacy Woods project (18 town
homes)
Way
Station
$165,000 request
Construction of a modular home on Phoebus Avenue
Venezia
Properties
$320,000 request
For land acquisition for Hillcrest Commons (60-64 apartments,
32 town homes)
Each
proposal met the basic requirements.
Please note the following timetable for the amendment
to the Annual Action Plan for Grant year 2003:
1.
The Director of Community Development will review each
proposal and forward them, along with a recommendation,
to the Mayor and Aldermen by Thursday December 4, 2003.
2.
Mayor and Board of Aldermen Workshop on Wednesday, December
10, 2003 to review project(s). Public comment is welcome.
Televised LIVE on Channel 99.
3.
Notice will be published of the project(s) recommended
as 2003 Action Plan amendments on December 12, 2003.
4.
The Mayor and Board of Aldermen will hear public comment
on recommended 2003 Action Plan amendments at an advertised
public hearing on December 18, 2003 and will consider
written comments on the proposed Action Plan amendments
until Monday January 12, 2004.
5.
Mayor and Board of Aldermen Public Meeting to adopt
the amendments following a public hearing, Thursday
January 15, 2004, 7 p.m., City Hall Board Room. Public
comment is welcome. Televised LIVE on Channel 99.
