The 6th
Dimension Handbell Ensemble coming to the Weinberg Center for the Arts
Saturday, December
6, 2003 to Kick-off an exciting weekend of Holiday Music
Frederick, Md. --- The Weinberg Center for the Arts is pleased to announce that The 6th Dimension Handbell Ensemble will be playing at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2003.
This contemporary adult group plays a wide variety of musical literature. They ring 3-5 octaves of English handbells, which would normally require 10-12 performers. To accomplish that feat, they use many advanced ringing techniques. This adds a unique visual dimension to their musical presentation. Their extensive repertoire spans the gamut from classical to pop, from sacred to jazz! These talented musicians have served as both performers and clinicians at the Area III Handbell Director’s Seminar as well as the prestigious National Handbell Director’s Seminar.
Vocalist Madeline MacNeil joins the ensemble for a riveting performance. MacNeil’s performances in the United States include The Barns at Wolf Trap, the Smithsonian Institution, the Shenandoah Valley Music Festival, and the National Cathedral. Her music has been part of several public television programs, including To Our Credit, a national production from Oregon Public Television. From Christmas to classical, traditional folk to jazz, her recordings—two of which have won awards in the Independent music field—delight listeners everywhere.
This show adds to the beginning of a great holiday weekend at the Weinberg Center and ends with Crystal Gayle in A Crystal Christmas on Sunday, December 7, 2003.
Tickets cost $10 and $20 to purchase call 301-228-2828 or
