CITY’S CHIEF LEGAL OFFICER
TO SPEAK AT 2003 STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT LAW INSTITUTE
Frederick, Md. ---- The City of Frederick is pleased to announce that Heather Price Smith, Chief Legal Officer for the City, has been asked to participate as a speaker at the 2003 State and Local Government Law Institute later this week. This is the fifth year the MICPEL, the Maryland State Bar Association’s Section of State & Local Government Law, the Maryland Municipal Attorney’s Association, the Maryland Municipal League and the Maryland Association of Counties in cooperation with The University Baltimore Law School & The University of Maryland School of Law, have presented this law institute.
Smith, along with Charles W. Thompson, Jr., from Montgomery County, and Mark H. Bowen, Department of State Police, Office of the Attorney General, will be presenting a session titled Emergency Powers & Intergovernmental & Interjurisdictional Cooperation Agreements.
Heather Price Smith has been the Chief Legal Officer for the City of Frederick since June 2001. Prior to her current position she served as an Assistant County Attorney in Anne Arundel County, Maryland and as Assistant City Attorney for the City of Frederick. Smith holds a J.D. from the University of Baltimore, School of Law, and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Baltimore. She received her undergraduate degree at Western Maryland College.
The Law Institute will take place this Friday, May 9, from 8:45 a.m. – 4:45 p.m., at the Business Training Center, the Gateway Building, in Columbia, Maryland.
Smith has also been asked to speak at the Maryland Municipal League Annual Convention, June 22 – 25, 2003.
