Frederick, Md. --- In anticipation of inclement weather this weekend, The City of Frederick has rescheduled the Grand Opening festivities of the William R. Diggs Memorial Swimming Pool to Saturday, June 7, 10 a.m. Mayor Jennifer P. Dougherty, the Board of Aldermen, Department of Recreation staff, other City staff, and area youth, will help re-dedicate Diggs Pool following months of extensive renovations and repairs to pool. Entry to the pool will be free all day (on June 7) and the first 50 children to enter will receive a free ‘noodle’ courtesy of the City of Frederick.
Diggs Pool is currently open provided the air temperature is above 70 degrees and there is no rain, thunder or lightening. From now until the end of the school year, Diggs Pool will be open Monday – Friday from 4 – 8 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.; and Sunday from 12:30 – 8 p.m. Hours of operation will change slightly when Frederick County Public Schools are dismissed for the summer. Hours will then be Monday – Saturday, from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.; and Sunday from 12:30 p.m. – 8 p.m.
The William R. Diggs Memorial Swimming Pool is located in Mullinix Park along the Carroll Creek promenade (behind the County Court House & City Police Department). An access road off of West All Saints Street leads to the Diggs Pool and Mullinix Park.
