CITY
OF FREDERICK HIRES NEW SPECIAL EVENTS OFFICE MANAGER
Frederick,
Md.--- The City of Frederick recently hired Amy Riley
as manager of special events office. Riley comes to
the City of Frederick from North Carolina Association
of Pharmacists located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
While at North Carolina Association of Pharmacists,
Riley was responsible for planning and promoting conventions,
as well as managing, planning and promoting meetings,
seminars, and speakers. Riley has a degree in communications,
with a concentration in marketing from the University
of Pittsburgh.
Riley joined the City staff on July 14, 2003. Her responsibilities
include managing the office, planning and promoting
special events, and generating sponsorships for the
City of Frederick. While the manager of office, Riley
has one major goal, "My goal while here is to communicate
to the public that there are wonderful resources right
here in Frederick and to encourage surrounding areas
to participate in the City's events."
Vincent
Hughes, chief operating officer of citizen services,
is excited about the addition of Riley to an already
excellent staff, "Amy's extensive sponsorship experience
will strengthen the office of special events and the
events which we present each year."
The
City of Frederick Office of Special Events works in
partnership with Cultural Events for Educating Frederick
(CEEF), a non-profit entity, to produce 12 annual, city-sanctioned
events which include The Garden Tour, Summer Concert
Series, Frederick's 4th an Independence Day Celebration,
Summerfest Family Theatre, IN THE STREET and the seven
events during The Holidays. The office staff works in
conjunction with CEEF's 100 plus volunteers is charged
with the responsibility of coordinating magnanimous
events, some with attendance of 50,000 or more.
The office staff and CEEF volunteers develop, organize
and implement each event that is funded in part through
generous sponsor dollars from the local business community
as well as in-kind donations by The City of Frederick.
Working together, the office, volunteers and sponsors
provide free or low cost events to the public that showcase
Frederick through the arts.
