The City of Frederick Purchasing Department has issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for artists interested in the commission of the Baker Park Public Art Project. The request is for the design, fabrication, delivery and acting consultant during installation of a sculpture to be located in Baker Park. To receive a copy of the RFQ, contact Kandi Fullerton in the Purchasing Department (111Airport Drive East Frederick, MD 21701) at 301-600-1194.
In recognition of the importance of public art and the arts community to the vitality of The City of Frederick, Mayor Dougherty appointed a Public Art Task Force, headed by Catherine Moreland of the Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center. The purpose of the task force is to develop overall public art guidelines and kick off the initial project at Baker Park. The Baker Park Public Art Project marks the beginning of a strong partnership between the arts community and The City of Frederick to revitalize and beautify Frederick.
