An open house for the proposed Arts and Entertainment District in The City of Frederick will be held Thursday January 30th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at the Delaplaine Visual Arts Center, 40 S. Carroll Street in Frederick.  There will be an informational presentation at 5:30 pm on the Arts and Entertainment District designation and its benefits, followed by a discussion and input session.

The Arts and Entertainment District is a competitive designation from the State of Maryland that offers benefits such as income tax credits for artists and property tax credits for “art space” within the district.  A committee consisting of members of the art community, business community and The City of Frederick staff and elected officials is preparing an application for an Arts and Entertainment District designation in downtown Frederick.

A wide range of people will be affected by this designation, including artists and property owners within the designation area.  Find out how an Arts and Entertainment District will work for you in The City of Frederick.  Light refreshments will be served.  For more information, contact the Department of Economic Development at 301-698-8118.

This event is sponsored by Frederick Festival of the Arts, The Frederick Arts Council, The City of Frederick Department of Economic Development and Greater Frederick Development Corporation.
