MAYOR ACTS UPON GOVENOR EHRLICH’S RESCINDING OF WATER RESTRICTIONS
Frederick, Md. ---- Governor Robert Ehrlich announced today the lifting of Mandatory Water Restrictions in the Central Region of Maryland. As a result of better than expected weather patterns in the fall, accompanied by significant snow fall this winter, Mayor Jennifer P. Dougherty under the recommendation of the City’s Drought Coordination Team has also lifted all water restrictions in the City of Frederick.
The City’s reservoirs, Lake Linganore and Fishing Creek, have fully been restored. The City is hopeful that a slow thawing of the most recent snowfall will assist in replenishing water tables. Citizens and businesses are still urged to continue in their water conservation efforts which helped sustain the lifespan of the City’s water supply throughout the summer and fall months. “I am greatly relieved that the drought conditions are no longer a concern. City residents and businesses did a great job through the toughest drought in a generation and I know people will be careful about their water use,” stated Mayor Dougherty. Adding, “I also know residents can’t wait to get back to washing their cars!”
