CITY ISSUES REMINDER ABOUT SNOW ACCUMULATION ON ROOF TOPS

Frederick, Md. --- The City of Frederick’s Department of Permits and Inspections would like to remind everyone that due to the recent, historical snowfall combined with high winds, large accumulations of snow may collect on roofs (especially flat and low-pitched roofs). The forecasted, warmer temperatures and rain will undoubtedly help to melt the snow; however, it may also compound the problem with backed-up gutters and roof drains.

It is advisable to have a licensed contractor assess the condition of roofs with substantial snow accumulation and remove the snow if it is determined to be a hazard.
