FREDERICK
POLICE DEPARTMENT TO OFFER 10TH CITIZEN POLICE ACADEMY
Designed to give citizens a clearer understanding of
the department's diverse roles and functions, the Frederick
Police Department's Citizen Police Academy focuses on
the everyday challenges police officers face in the
line of duty.
During
the course, students receive instruction in aspects
of police work such as uniformed patrol, criminal investigations,
traffic enforcement, search and seizure, crime analysis,
and communications.
Classes
are highly interactive and include many hands-on exercises.
To complement classroom instruction students also participate
in ride-alongs with patrol officers.
The
ten week program, offered free of charge, will be held
Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., starting
September 10, 2003 and running through November 12,
2003.
The
department is proud to offer its tenth Citizen Police
Academy to every resident of the City of Frederick,
or persons with business interests in the city, who
are 18 years of age or older and have had no serious
criminal convictions. If interested, please contact
Corporal Jason Keckler at 301-624-1231 for an application
or further details.
