TENNIS COURTS IN CITY TO BE
FLOODED
AS PART OF CONSTRUCTION
PROCESS
Frederick,
Md. --- On Friday, September 6th,
Craig Paving, Inc., a contractor for the City of Frederick, will be flooding
the newly reconstructed tennis courts at College Avenue and West 2nd
Street. This step is necessary in the
process to check for low spots prior to applying the sealer and color coats to
the tennis courts.
Earlier this week Craig Paving, Inc.
submitted a Variance to Mandatory Water Restrictions to the City’s Drought
Coordination Team. The Variance was
approved provided the contractor use water from a source other than the City of
Frederick's water system, as well as display signage indicating the water
source. The contractor has agreed to
transport water from Washington County.
In an effort to recycle water where possible,
the City of Frederick has agreed to allow the contractor to draw water from the
Edward P. Thomas, Jr. Memorial
Swimming Pool which is located on Fleming Avenue if additional water is
required. The Edward P. Thomas, Jr. Memorial Swimming Pool
ended its season this week and needs to lower the water level approximately 2 feet for winter storage. Due to the water chlorination of the pool
water, uses are limited and the water is not suitable for drinking, irrigation,
etc. Either source will not require the
use of any City of Frederick treated, potable water.
