CITY PROJECT TO USE RECYCLED POOL WATER

Frederick, Md. --- Beginning on Monday, October 7, the Department of Public Works for the City of Frederick will be replacing the stadium seats at the Band Shell at Baker Park.  In order to ensure the proper removal of old fractured and deteriorated mortar, the contractor will be using a high-pressure power washer.  Pressure washing will also be necessary to properly point up and seal the new masonry work.

Late in September the City’s Maintenance Division submitted a Variance to Mandatory Water Restrictions to the City’s Drought Coordination Team.  The Variance was approved provided the water used for the project came from a source other than the City of Frederick's water system, as well as display signage indicating the water source.

In an effort to recycle water where possible, the City of Frederick has agreed to allow the contractor to draw water from the Edward P. Thomas, Jr. Memorial Swimming Pool which is located on Fleming Avenue if additional water is required. The pool ended its season in early September and needs to lower the water level approximately 2 feet for winter storage.  Due to the water chlorination of the pool water, uses are limited and the water is not suitable for drinking, irrigation, etc.
