SPECIAL MEETING OF THE MAYOR AND BOARD OF ALDERMEN WILL BE HELD TODAY AT 5 PM

Mayor Jennifer Dougherty has called a special meeting of the Mayor & Board of Aldermen, which will be convened today, March 7, 2002, at 5:00 p.m. in the Board Room at City Hall. This action is in accordance to the authority granted under section 10 of the Charter of The City of Frederick

During this special meeting Mayor Dougherty will request a vote of the Aldermen to convene the meeting to a closed executive session. This is action is in accordance with the authority granted under the Annotated Code of Maryland, State Government Article, Section 10-508 (a)(1)(ii),

10-508(7), and 10-508(3).

The Mayor is requesting that the special meeting convene to a closed executive session for the purposes:

• of discussing a specific personnel matter relating to one or more individuals,

· to consult with the Chief Legal Services Officer to obtain advice on legal matters pertaining to the Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act,

• to consider the acquisition of real property for the public purpose of blight abatement and matters directly related thereto.

The Mayor will entertain a motion to this effect at tomorrow’s meeting and will comply with the Open Meetings Act to the fullest extent. The Mayor and Board will convene at 7:00 p.m. for the regular scheduled public meeting.
