MAYOR DOUGHERTY TO ATTEND GOVERNMENT CONTRACT SIGNING

Mayor Jennifer P. Dougherty will attend a defense-contract signing for Frederick Manufacturing on Wisner Street today, Tuesday, March 5 at 11:00 a.m. The signing ceremony celebrates the award of a $185 million contract between Frederick Manufacturing and the United States Army to produce 450 tactical water purification systems over the next 5-6 years.

According to Dick Mattingley, Vice President and General Manager for Frederick Manufacturing, the contract will bring annual revenues of $30-35 million into the City. “This contract is a big deal for Frederick,” stated Mr. Mattingley. “Each water purification system produced will supply up to 1500 gallons of potable water for the field soldier.”

“This is probably the largest government contract that a company in The City of Frederick has ever received,” stated Mayor Dougherty. “This contract equates to an additional ½ million hours of labor over the next five years, which means Frederick Manufacturing will employ more people. I am proud of Frederick Manufacturing because when our businesses are successful our community is successful.”

Congressman Roscoe Bartlett and several U.S. Army officials are expected to be in attendance at the signing ceremony. The ceremony will be held at Frederick Manufacturing located at 20 S. Wisner Street.
