MAYOR DOUGHERTY’S WEEKLY NEWS CONFERENCE
Mayor Jennifer P. Dougherty will hold her weekly news conference on Tuesday, February 26 at 10 AM in the Board Room of City Hall. The following items will be discussed:
1. Homewood at Crumland Farms: Mayor Dougherty visited with Homewood residents and heard their concerns about access to transportation services. The Mayor will speak with TransIT about adding a Homewood route to the bus schedule. The issue about the billboards located on the Homewood property will be discussed at the Mayor and Board of Aldermen Workshop this week.
2. Maryland Municipal League: Last Tuesday Mayor Dougherty attended a Maryland Municipal League meeting held at the Walkersville Town Hall. Two issues discussed were homeland security and planning for the fall election cycle.
3. Greater Frederick Development Corporation: The draft budget for GFDC has been presented to the City.
4. State Highway Administration: Mayor Dougherty has met with the SHA and the owners of Brick Works to discuss the East Street Extension project. A preliminary agreement has been reached about the road alignment. The next challenge is to find funding for the cost of a right-away.
5. Religious Coalition: Mayor Dougherty will meet with the Religious Coalition and Interfaith Housing today to discuss the cold weather shelter.
6. Fort Detrick: This Thursday Mayor Dougherty will visit Fort Detrick. She will receive a tour of the facility and a briefing about programs and services.
7. Red Light Cameras: During the Workshop this Wednesday Captain Domer will make a presentation on the feasibility of cameras at red lights.
8. Read Across America: This Friday Mayor Dougherty will visit the first grade class at Monocacy Elementary School. She will read a book to them as part of the promotion for “Read Across America”.
