RELEASE: Friday, December 20, 2002
Frederick, Md. --- The City of Frederick is pleased to announce a new program designed to assist residents with large item trash removal. In June of 2002, the Mayor and Board of Aldermen approved Ordinance G-02-12, revisions to the Bulk Trash section of the City Code, Section 10-23. Including in this approved Ordinance was the establishment of the Special Collections Program.
In addition to the City’s three normal Bulk Trash Collections, an On-Call Bulk Trash Collection service is now available. A minimum fee of $40.00 for a pickup load of material will be charged to the requestor. If the volume exceeds a pickup truck load, the Department of Public Works will provide a cost estimate to remove the material, including costs for labor, vehicles, equipment, and landfill tipping fees.
All fees for a Special Collection are required to be paid in full prior to the collection. Payments are to be made to the Finance Department. A receipt is required in order for the Department of Public Works to complete the collection.
Items
that will not be picked up include; tires, hazardous materials, medical
waste, batteries, propane tanks, oil tanks, and compressed gas cylinders, as
the City cannot dispose of these
materials and is not certified to handle any hazardous wastes.
To request a Special Collection, please call the Department of Public Works at 301-600-1173 during normal business hours, or 301-600-1440 after hours.
