CITY OF FREDERICK
PARTICIPATES
IN NATIONAL NIGHT OUT
Frederick, Md. --- On Tuesday, August 6th, five communities in the City of Frederick will join together as citizens, law enforcement agencies, community groups, businesses and local officials and mark the 19th Annual "National Night Out" (NNO) - an annual crime prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW). Nationally, over 33 million people will participate in 'America's Night Out Against Crime' this year.
This itinerary for
the following communities participating in National Night Out 2002 in the City of
Frederick includes:
Amber Meadows
· Maryland Air National Guard Helicopter will arrive around 6:00 p.m. due to the requirement that they be airborne prior to sunset. Fire equipment will be on hand for landing and take off per ANG regulations.
· K-9 demo- 8:00 p.m.
Lake Coventry
· K-9 demo- 8:30 p.m.
John Hanson/Taney complex
· K-9 demo- 8:45 p.m.
South End Coalition
· K-9 demo- 8:45 p.m.
East End Coalition
· K-9 demo- 8:00 p.m.
There will be fire units on display at all the locations, with the exception of the South End Coalition due to space limitation in Mullinex Alley. The Marine Reserve Unit, the Mobile Command Post, the motor units and other police vehicles will be rotating from community to community starting at approximately 1900 hours.
National Night Out is designed to:

Heighten
crime, drug and violence prevention awareness.
·
Generate
support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs.
·
Strengthen
neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.
·
Send
a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and
fighting back.
