CITY OF FREDERICK TO INSTALL TEMPORARY DAM ON MONOCACY RIVER EARLIER THAN SCHEDULED

Frederick, Md. --- The City of Frederick successfully completed the first component of a process to install a temporary, inflatable dam on the Monocacy River today. The sediment removal process from the intake structure was successful and no complications were encountered.

Due to the rapidly declining water levels in the Monocacy River, the City has decided to move up the installation date of the Aquadam from Tuesday morning (August 27) to Saturday morning (August 24). The inflatable dam will assist the current drought efforts by channeling water into a narrower stream, opposed to how it traditionally flowing by the intake the entire width of the river.
