 MAYOR DOUGHERTY’S COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES

FOR THIS WEEKEND, APRIL 20 & 21

 

 

On Saturday, April 20, Mayor Dougherty will give the signal to start the race for the Garrett 5K Run/Walk Race at 8:30 a.m.

 

The race was established to raise money for the Garrett Petronchak Memorial fund, which was created in memory of Garrett Petronchak who was killed in an alcohol-related automobile crash in 1995. The $2,000 Scholarship is available to a Frederick County high school senior who actively participates in the fight against underage drinking and driving.

 

The race will begin at 8:30 a.m. in Baker Park next to the William R. Talley Recreation Center on Bentz Street.

At 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Mayor Dougherty will participate in an Earth Day Community Activity sponsored by the Willow Brook Homeowner’s Association.

 

Members of the Willow Brook community will clean up the common areas of their community including Tuscarora Creek, the tree line between Willow Brook and North Crossing and the Tot Areas.

 

The Willow Brook community is located on Opossumtown Pike.

Later on Saturday at 1:30 p.m., Mayor Dougherty will catch the first pitch of the Frederick Baseball Association’s Girl’s Softball League.

 

The baseball field is located on Fairview Avenue.

On Sunday, April 21, Mayor Dougherty will give opening remarks at the 13th Annual National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) WALK Day at 1:00 p.m.

 

Money raised during this walk will fund additional research efforts for Multiple Sclerosis.

 

The MS WALK will start at the William R. Talley Recreation Center in Baker Park
