Neighborhood Advisory Council 8
Meeting Minutes
NAC 8 held its monthly meeting at 7pm on October 10, 2007 at Hillcrest Elementary School.
The following Council members were in attendance: Lance M. English, Maureen English, Steve Stoyke. Seven NAC 8 residents were also in attendance.
The following City Officials were in attendance: Stephanie Ambush, NAC/Frederick city Liaison, Timothy Davis, Planning Department (Highway and Roads) and officer Forrest, (Beat 4 or 5) from the City of Frederick Police Department.
Discussion:
· The officer Forrest provided a summary of criminal activity related to our NAC. Generally, the crime is low in our area with a few break-ins and thefts, one on 5714 Butterfly lane, near Mt Philip Rd, and the other at the Latino Market on Hillcrest near 40. He a city crackdown on motorcycle (the small pocket rockets) in the area of Hillstreet park and in the neighborhoods in the city. He said that speeding in our NAC is problematic and cited speeding on Hunting Ridge and Butterfly. The police would like our help in reporting speeding in the neighborhoods so enforcement actions can take place. He also discussed other activity occurring throughout the rest of the city that may impact our area.
· Stephanie Ambush announced the city was launching its annual leaf pick up campaign from November 5 to December 14. All leaves should be placed in a brown bag and left by the curb for pick up. She also passed out Emergency Contact cards used by emergency personal if they are called to a home and the resident is unable to talk or is incapacitated. Some residents mentioned that Animal Control was not being responsive. It was suggested that an animal control officer attend the next (NOV) NAC meeting.
· Timothy Davis, a city planner who basically is a traffic flow engineer, briefed the NAC on the State Highway Project at MD 180/351. He presented the projects three options which call for widening Butterfly, the bridges over 340, and other improvements. He passed out copies of the plans and carefully went over the various options. He answered various questions from attendees and reminded the group that there was a scheduled Public meeting on Wed. October 17 from 5:30 to 8:30. State and City officials would be present to discuss the project and answer questions.
The next scheduled NAC meeting is set for 7pm, November 14, 2007 at Hillcrest Elementary School.
