Officer Weaver:

There was an armed robbery in Sagner & at the McDonald’s on East Patrick St.

As far as speeding, they are hitting East Street hard.

There is an increase in graffiti.

Three wheelers are beginning to be a problem again.

Stephanie Davis:

Stephanie Davis passed out the agenda which included the agenda for the May 3rd Mayor & Board of Aldermen meeting and the Mayor  & Board of Alderman workshop for May 2nd.  Announcements were:

  1. Beginning May 8th, yard waste pick up in our NAC is the 2nd & 4th Wednesday of the month. Yard waste must be set out Tuesday night.
  2. A new traffic engineer was hired.

New Business:

  1. Gabrielle Collard with the city’s planning department attended with the developer (Dan Regeimbal) of 1405 Rosemont Avenue. The address is not in our NAC, but the NAC his development is in is not active.  The plan is to turn single family homes across from Sheetz into an office building that would be unobtrusive.  It would look much like a house like Real Estate Teams on Rt. 40.  It could contain a lawyer, insurance agent, and a dentist.  Gail Bradley recommended that the neighbors living nearby be informed.  Plans were mailed to adjacent homeowners.  The hearing is in July.
  2. Shane Pollin spoke for the new developer, Duffie Companies, of Canterbury Station.  Mr. Pollin said that Duffie Company is a 3rd generation company which started in MD and is primarily in Montgomery County.  They came for an open dialogue and wanted to hear the main concerns citizens had with Canterbury Station. Traffic, school safety, and height of the buildings were again expressed. Citizens requested a new traffic study be done during school days.  Marc DeCampo said the preliminary forestation plan needs to be approved by July.  There has been state approval for a traffic light at 16th & East and 355 and East Street.

Announcements:

Marie reminded everyone that the Frederick Marathon is this Sunday, May 6th and our NAC is stationed at TJ High.  We can make a poster to display.

Our next NAC meeting is set for Tues June 5th @ 7 p.m. at the YMCA.

Sincerely,

Claudia J. Winkelman, Secretary
