It was decided that we would have a trash pickup day on Saturday May 20th.  We will meet at Staley Park at 9:00 a.m., walk the city streets of our choice  in our NAC area until 10:30 a.m. where we will meet back at Staley Park. We will invite the Alderman and Mayor. We set a .rain date of Tuesday the 23rd. at 7 p.m.

We will table the July meeting because it falls on the 4th.

Aug 1st  , we will meet at Monocacy Blvd. David will handle the permit.

Marie thanked all who volunteered for the Marathon.

Gail said that the trash situation during the little leagues is much better.

Public Works gave the Bradley’s cones to save a parking space.

Bike to work day is scheduled for May 19th.  Stepanie Davis brought a handout on the event.

The Y has finally complied with trash pick up times.  The neighbors are finally able to sleep at night.  However, Mr. Tire at East St  and 9th is sometimes still a problem.

North Market resident concerned about pods (a metal container).  Its has been there about 2 weeks.

Stephanie:

Our Budget is $800.  We could make sandwich board signs which should cost less than $200 for 4 signs.  Walmart has a community laison LuAnn Moore who is loaning trees and benches for TJ Highs Prom theme A Walk in the Park.

One NAC donated money for…potable water.

One suggestion was to help Care Wear who knits the premie hats.

We could purchase something for N Frederick Elem. School as a thank you for using the school.  Marie will contact the principal…….

David will give Stephanie an estimate on signs

Nicodemus property development may be a violation of FAA and Encroachment on airport air space.  Pilots are going to try to change R12 zoning.  No one got input from the airport commission who is proposing an ordinance to give airport comm. more authority.

East Church and Highland citizens were concerned about not being notified about the proposed development.

Paul Smith:

Last fall the city approved the location of Monocacy Blvd.  Property will have to be taken which could take a couple of years.  Developer said 7th and East would go through.

Closure of Opossumtown Pike bridge is in the future.  Widening of Rt 15 would require alterations of the bridges and ramps.

One area of progress is bypass from Urbana to Monocacy Blvd.  Before that could take place it needs to be placed on the State highway needs inventory.

No one is going forward with the metro idea because of the terrain.

How can East Street down by Shab Row be expanded to allow trucks?

One of the transit lines were cut out because of the lack of riders.

The meeting adjourned at 7:55 p.m.

Sincerely,

Claudia J. Winkelman,

Secretary
