NAC 7 Monthly Meeting Feb 6, 2007 Meeting

North Frederick Elementary @ 7 p.m.

Members Present: Claudia Winkelman, David Winkelman, Mike Bradley, and Marie Zinnert

City Representatives Present: Stephanie Davis

Citizens Present: 9

Police Representative: Officer Martyak and Officer Johnson

Officer Martyak:

He came to address the complaint regarding fair parking on Highland Street. Restricted parking from north of barns due to livestock, pedestrian gate, and site distance problems. There has never been parking along Highland Street at the bridge. Otherwise, where people used to be able to park just north of the bridge, they made U turns to avoid Monroe Street which was very dangerous with all the pedestrians, so parking was restricted.

Office Johnson:

There were 2 computers stolen from the portable classrooms at North Frederick Elementary School.

The only thing stolen at TJ Middle was candy.

There was vandalism at the end of Dockside Drive. Fencing was broken and side view mirrors were turned around.

They are down on manpower, but 12 in the academy will be ready in September.

Specialty units are on call so they can take home their police cars. Officers who live in Frederick are also allowed to take their cars home. A lot of officers move to W. VA. or PA. for affordable housing.

Stephanie Davis:

Stephanie spoke about why the NAC initiative needs to be redone. She also spoke about combining some NACs due to lack of participation in some of the NACs. We may have NAC 6 join us.

Each NAC has an $800 budget.

General Discussion followed:

Carol Krimm reminded everyone the 2nd rezoning hearing on the Odd Fellows property is February 12th, City Hall at 6 p.m.

Summer lunch program questions were raised.

NAC project ideas suggested were an anti-litter program and a park clean up.

Our next meeting is March 3rd at the YMCA’s Mercer building (1016 N. Market St) at 7 p.m.

Sincerely,

Claudia J. Winkelman, Secretary
