Members Present: Don Dean, Claudia Winkelman, and Marie Zinnert
City Representatives Present: Sara McGill
Citizens Present: Bryon Schwartz, Evelyn Koch, Ken Berlin, Jon and Doris Felton
Police Representative: Officer Hennenberry
The meeting was called to order by Don Dean and introductions were made of all present.
Ken Berlin (from NAC#4) introduced himself as a Democratic Candidate for Alderman and passed out a flyer.
The Feltons attended to address 2 issues:
1. Drivers are running the stop sign at 12th and Fairview, and
2. They had a bad experience with code enforcement.
Sara will inform the police that the problem at 12th and Fairview still exists. Don recommended moving the electronic speed monitor. The Felton’s believe the speed humps are helping. They also said bus#441 goes like the devil down their street (W. 12th St).
Officer Hennenberry:
Nothing serious in our NAC. There have been fighting in the park calls and Staley Park’s concession stand was broken into about 3 weeks ago. In Monocacy Park there is writing on the tables. Alcohol or being in the park after 10 p.m. are arrestable offenses.
Other concerns addressed were:
Dirt bikes in common areas are an offense.
There are noise ordinances for cars with loud music, loud motorcycles, excessive or unnecessary use of a horn.
There were a few burglaries along East St. They caught the person who broke into Krugs.
Marie passed around a volunteer signup sheet for the Marathon scheduled for May 1st.
Sarah announced:
May 17th they will be voting on the NAC budget.
April 25th - Frederick 101
We will use our budget this year for mailings and to advertise our meetings. Sarah will rearrange the flyer to make it suitable for mailing.
We asked Sarah about the new member Bill Blair. She told us to contact Vinney Hughes.
We asked Sarah if our NAC could develop By Laws as we are interested in setting guidelines for our NAC . She said we could and that other NACs have adopted their own By Laws.
Our next meeting is May 3rd at 7 p.m., North Frederick Elementary School.
Sincerely,
Claudia J. Winkelman
