City Representatives Present: Sara McGill, Tim Davis w/ City Planning Office, Vinnie Hughes
Citizens Present: Bryon Schwartz, Evelyn Kock, Jon and Doris Felton, Jack Mehl, et al
Police Representative: Officer Gunder, Chief Dine

The meeting was called to order by Don Dean and introductions were made of all present.

Officer Gunder:
There was destruction of property along N. Market Street . Vehicle windows were smashed.
There were a number of speeding violations & accidents. It is normal to see an increase in the summertime.

Gail Bradley requested routine patrol of parks after 11 p.m. Officer Gunder said the police will pick up patrol in the summertime as the parks are a good place for drug activity and underage drinking.

There was a question about the leash law since owners are letting their dogs run loose. Officer Gunder said in heavily traffic areas , they will ticket which carries a $25 fine.

Motorized scooters under 49 cc’s illegal. They are definitely a nuisance.

Mr. Felton asked about parking on the grass over the curb. Even though it is city property, codes did not know what to do. It is a parking complaint and a ticketable offense.

Mike Bradley said he is interested in the post data where speed humps were installed.

The police department has 6 to 7 radar guns. State Farm recently made a donation to the department so they hope to get more radar guns.

When you can call 911 was discussed.

Tim Davis with the City Planning Dept came to inform us about the airport and passed out FAQ: Frederick Municipal Airport Master Plan. Mr. Davis discussed when the different runways were built and future runway plans. City taxes do not pay for airport expansion. The growth has been in corporate aviation while general aviation has been declining. The next Airport Commission Meeting will be held June 12th @ 6 p.m. at the Department of Public Works. Mr. Davis also passed out a brochure on noise abatement.

Sarah said she will get us a cost on the flyers we want to mail. The cost will determine advertising of future meetings.

Chief Dine announced that the police department has an updated brochure on the website.

Marie said that the recycling facility on Delaware Ave has become a dumping ground. The recycling facility may be in the city, but is a county program.

The meeting was adjourned approximately 8:50 p.m.. The next meeting is scheduled for June 7th at 7 pm, North Frederick Elementary School.

Sincerely,

Claudia J. Winkelman
