NAC 6 MINUTES 2/7/05
Present: Sara McGill, Debra DePaul, Dave Violette, Paul Dienes, Katherine Jones
Heartley House will be present within the next few months to present some information about domestic violence.
As a result of the efforts on the Comprehensive Plan, there is now a noise zone added into the development maps of Frederick.
Traffic study is being held up by the weather. Cannot do the study during the snow.
Mr. Dave Violette, Inspector for the City of Frederick Department of Code Enforcement made a presentation. The Department has 2 Code Enforcement officers. If you are cited for a Code violation, call Code Enforcement to see if something can be worked out. They will make exceptions if a person has been ill or is disabled. But they cannot make exceptions if the person cited does not call them. Elderly residents should call to avoid citations for snow removal, as Code Enforcement now has the snow bunny initiative, and might be able to coordinate getting a volunteer to come shovel the elderly resident’s walk. Snow and Ice must be removed from the entire length of the sidewalk for a width of 4 feet within 6 hours of the end of the snowfall, unless it has fallen between 5 pm and 7 am, and then it must be removed by 1 pm.
During the summer residents should keep an eye on tree branches over streets and alleys. Trees overhanging sidewalks and roads may not be closer than 9 feet over sidewalks, and no closer than 15 feet above any roadway.
You can find the other ordinances residents must keep in mind online at www.cityoffrederick.com.
Code Enforcement is investigating the possible operation of illegal boarding houses in NAC6.
Remember to get permits for changes to fencing, decks, sheds, etc. before you make your changes.
We also discussed traffic in the neighborhood. We asked about moving the “No Through Trucks” sign for Wilson Place to be more visible from Rosemont before the trucks make the turn onto Wilson. Mr. Violette suggested we email the Traffic Safety Committee about that.
State Farm has paid for another speed sign. And stop light cameras are coming.
The minutes for 2004 have been approved for publication.
The representatives from Hood College did not appear.
Our next meeting is 3/7/05.
They do not get many calls from NAC6 for Code violations, some calls about trash and rubbish.
