NAC 6 MINUTES –
May 27, 2004
Present: Katherine J. Jones, Sarah Finefrock,
Sgt. Pennington, Dan Beins.
As Katherine was the
only official public member, we just had some updates from Sgt. Pennington and
Sarah Finefrock about some issues.
Those present reviewed the minutes from 5/10/04.
Sgt. Pennington
reported the results of the placement of the speed signs in our
neighborhood. From April 20-26, 2004,
10648 cars drove by the speed sign on Wilson Place. Those cars traveled at an average speed of 26.7 mph. 44% of them exceeded the speed limit going
between 26-35 mph. 2.7% exceeded the
speed limit going between 36-45 mph. 2
cars were going 46-55 mph. The most
volume of traffic was between the hours of 5:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Sarah reported that we can
create our own letterhead, but we cannot use the official city seal. We discussed making a proposal to circulate
among the NACs to see whether other NACs would like to use similar letterhead.
Sarah also reported
that at the last Board Meeting, Fort Detrick presented a proposal seeking tax
relief for the development of the planned residential community they will be
building on base. She also reported
about the plans for the use of the different gates as they are developed, and
as construction progresses. The base
will be issuing decals for permanent and temporary workers on base, and those
vehicles will be diverted to the Gate at Old Farm Road. Ft. Detrick is also building a permanent
construction and noise reduction wall between the base and the apartments along
the perimeter of the base at 7th street.
Sarah also reported
that the 7th Street Shopping Center is seeking tax relief for
development of the Ames property.
Sarah advised that the
Proposal for Wilson Place, which has been submitted to Streets and Sanitation,
will be reviewed by a committee of which Sgt. Hansell and herself will be a
part. She is not sure when.
This was a short
meeting because so few members were present.
No decisions were made.
