NAC minutes for February 11, 2008

 

Meeting began at 7:00 at Monocacy Elem. School. Meeting moved to Media Center due to preparation for primary election voting.  22 in attendance with 5 presenters: Chief Dine, Sgt. Figgers, Bill Douwes, Kathy Forrest, Stephanie Davis

 

Chief Dine shared the information about the false alarm reduction program and passed out brochures explaining the program.

Sgt. Figgers explained the “Crime and Call” list- 563 calls for service over past two months.  8 arrests made.  No major crimes during this period. 

 

Residents asked about loud music and how the police respond and also about speeders and people going through stop signs on Amber Drive.  Information on how to navigate the city web site was given.  The transfer of Cpl. Stanley was announced.  Cpl. D. Sommers has taken his place.

 

S. Davis gave report from the previous NAC meeting.  May 10 Pangaea festival information was shared.  This festival will now include the community festival NAC 5 has held in the past. 

 

Bill Douwes, crime analyst for the city explained what he does with the information collected on crime in the city.  GIS-Geographical Information System map passed around with the listing of crimes within our NAC.  He explained how prediction analysis works in helping the police predict where a crime might occur and showed examples of some of the informational charts he has compiled.  Types of crimes for NAC 3 since January 1, 2008 were listed. 

 

Kathy Forrest, Frederick County Office of Emergency Preparedness presented a map with NAC 3 areas within the flood plain.  She explained the Pink card program and gave other important information. 

 

March 10 is next meeting.  A developer from Homewood will be presenting.
