Food Security Program Earns Grant

More fresh food is planned to be available to low-income City residents because the City of Frederick’s Sustainability program has earned an $8,100 public health grant.

The money is to benefit a food growing program begun by the Frederick Food Security Network. Food and nutrition are one sector in the City’s sustainability plan.

“We’re partnering with the Food Security Network and hope to expand the great work they did last year. The hope this year is to expand the growing space and season by growing produce in two additional gardens and in a greenhouse.” -- Sustainability Manager Jenny Willoughby
