Municipal Government at Work

IMG_-ia3xvl halved Municipal Government Works Month for November.

The Maryland Municipal League started the Municipal Government Works program in 1993 to promote local government, civic engagement and education each November. MML President Jake Romanell attended when Frederick proclaimed its support.

Oct. 25, Mayor Pro Tem Kelly Russell presented the November Municipal Government Works Month proclamation signed by Mayor Randy McClement, who was absent, to Maryland Municipal League President Jake Romanell, New Market councilmember. Pictured, Alderman Michael O'Connor (left) and Alderwoman Donna Kuzemchak (right) were present for the proclamation. Frederick is participating in the League's statewide Municipal Government Works program: engaging students and adults, informing them about their government, and making a special effort to note the work that goes in to municipal government service to the citizens. The MML encourages particular attention to municipal activities each November, but recognizes that municipal leadership takes a year-round commitment to governing.
