Matt Andersen Performs Pay-What-You-Want Concert at Weinberg

FREDERICK, Md., Wednesday, February 15, 2017 — Deftly exploring both the personal and political, musical powerhouse Matt Andersen will bring his commanding stage presence to the Weinberg Center for the Arts on Thursday, March 2 at 7:30pm. The performance marks the latest installment of the Weinberg Center’s Tivoli Discovery Series, which presents emerging artists of varying genres.

The Tivoli Discovery Series is pay-what-you-want with a suggested donation of $10. Tickets may be reserved in advance at WeinbergCenter.org, by calling 301.600.2828, or in person at 20 West Patrick Street. Tickets will also be available at the door.

With nearly 10 million views on YouTube, a 2013 European Blues Award, and winning Best Solo Performer at the Memphis Blues Challenge, it appears that the entire world is now discovering Matt Andersen. He has built a formidable following the old-fashioned way – touring worldwide and letting the converted audiences and Andersen devotees spread his reputation through word of mouth. In addition to headlining major festivals, clubs and theatres throughout North America, Europe, and Australia, he has shared the stage and toured with Bo Diddley, Buddy Guy, Greg Allman, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Randy Bachman, Little Feat, Jonny Lang, Serena Ryder, and more. Andersen won the 2013 Euro Blues Award for Best Solo/Acoustic Act, three Maple Blues Awards in 2012, and the 2010 International Blues Challenge in Memphis. Since the release of “Weightless” in early 2014, Andersen has received a JUNO nomination for Roots & Traditional Album of the Year, a CIMA Road Gold award, and two consecutive Maple Blues Awards for Male Vocalist of the Year.

The Tivoli Discovery Series is sponsored by the Tivoli Society of the Weinberg Center for the Arts. A complete listing of artists and performers scheduled for the 2016-2017 season can be found at WeinbergCenter.org.
