ARTICLE II. PERMITS
Sec. 26-19. Permits--General.
(a) Except as provided in section 26-20 of this Code, no person shall
make any installation of electrical equipment which is subject to the provisions
of this article without first obtaining a permit therefor from the
department.
(b) All applications for permits shall be in writing, shall be
in such form as may be prescribed by the department and shall describe the work
to be done and the location thereof. The application shall be accompanied by
such plans, specifications and schedules as shall be necessary to determine
whether the installation will be in conformity with the provisions of this
article.
(c) Each permit shall describe with particularity the installation
to be done thereunder and no person shall install any electrical equipment other
than in accordance with the permit. All permits shall expire and be null and
void unless the work authorized thereunder is commenced within six (6) months
from the date of issuance; provided, that the department may, upon good cause
shown, extend a permit one or more times for periods not exceeding sixty (60)
days.
(d) No permit shall be required to repair or replace existing electric
equipment except items of two (2) HP or five (5) KW rating or more. Any
disconnections of service equipment require a permit.
(e) In case an
electrician who signs an application for a permit does not desire to do the work
described by it, either in part, or in its entirety, he shall so notify the city
in writing, requesting that he be released from responsibility for that part of
the work which he does not desire to do. The electrician will be responsible
under the terms of this article for the work which has been inspected. There
will be a transfer fee of twenty dollars ($20.00) per application.
1. In
case the electrician who signs an application for permit dies, the permit shall
be suspended until terminated or transferred.
2. In case the electrician who
originally signed the application is removed from the work by the owner and is
replaced by another electrician, the owner shall notify the city in writing of
the proposed change. The first electrician will be notified by the city of the
proposed change and no transfer of the permit in less than five (5) days will be
made without his consent. There will be a transfer fee of twenty dollars
($20.00) per application.
3. Except as above provided, permits may not be
transferred.
(f) Permits shall become void one year from date of issuance
should the work described thereon not be completed. The permit must be renewed
at a cost of twenty dollars ($20.00). Any person violating any of the provisions
of this article shall be deemed guilty of a municipal infraction punishable by a
fine of not more than five hundred dollars ($500.00). Each day of a violation
