Sec. 25-17. Renewal of mains upon paving of streets.


Whenever the city shall decide to pave any street or portion thereof, the superintendent of waterworks shall inspect all water pipes beneath the surface thereof, and in the event he finds any water distribution or service mains belonging to the city out of repair or in such bad condition that they should be renewed, he shall repair or renew the same at the expense of the city. In the event he shall find any water service mains laid by individuals or corporations out of repair or in such bad condition that they should be renewed, he shall repair or renew the same at the expense of the city, but in all such cases the owner of the property supplied with water shall be required to pay the tappage fee for connecting the new main, as set out in section 25-9.
