Sec. 23-43. Report of accident.


(a) A taxicab permit holder shall provide the taxicab administrative agency written notice of any accident in which a taxicab operated under the provisions of this chapter is involved. Such notice shall be given within forty-eight (48) hours of the accident and must be provided regardless of whether such accident occurs while the cab is occupied by a passenger, results in loss of life or serious injury to any person, or results in substantial damage to property.
(b) Reports made in compliance with subsection (a) of this section shall be made on forms provided by the taxicab administrative agency and shall be in strict accordance with the instructions on such forms.
(c) Failure to report any accident involving a taxicab specified by a taxicab permit under this chapter within forty-eight (48) hours of the accident, shall be a municipal infraction subject to the penalty not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) per day after forty-eight (48) hours and may result in a complaint against the permit holder or operator and subject the same to the sanctions provided in this chapter.
