Sec. 23-32. Distinctive color scheme; taxicab markings.


(a) Every taxicab permit holder, owned individually or jointly, who shall use the same name for more than one taxicab for which permit has been issued by the city, shall adopt and employ a distinctive color scheme or insignia, which shall be approved and registered with the commission. No other taxicab permit holders shall be permitted to paint his vehicle or vehicles to so closely resemble such distinctive color scheme or insignia of other vehicles as to mislead the public as to the identity of the owner.
(b) Every taxicab shall have the name of the taxicab permit holder’s company name and telephone number on the driver’s and passenger’s doors, either front or back.
(c) All letters and numbers printed on the taxicab in compliance with subsection (b) of this section shall be not less than two (2) inches high.
(d) All taxicabs currently in use on the effective date of this chapter shall comply with the provisions of this section no later than December 23, 2005.
(e) All taxicabs placed into service subsequent to the effective date of this chapter shall comply with all provisions of this section upon being identified pursuant to section 23-9 of this chapter. (Ord. No. G-04-10, 6-3-04; Ord. No. G-05-11, 7-21-05)
