Sec. 16-15. Miscellaneous provisions.


(a) Utility contractors.
(1) A person or company (hereinafter in this section sometimes referred to as “utility contractors”), engaged in the business of installing underground pipe from the property line to sewer and water connections and storm water drains in the streets, alleys, highways, and rights-of-way of the city or installing underground pipe from the property line to the point where the building drain begins or on site work for commercial, industrial and multifamily complexes are exempt from the provisions of this chapter except as herein provided.
(2) Prior to commencing said work, such contractors shall be required to give bond to the city in the sum of five thousand dollars ($5,000.00), with corporate surety, subject to the approval of the plumbing inspector and shall procure a policy(s) or insurance as provided in section 16-7(c).
(3) A utility contractor performing work on private property must make application for a plumbing permit for utility contractors and pay appropriate plumbing permit fees.
(b) Fees. The mayor and board of aldermen at a regular or special public meeting shall establish appropriate fees for permits and registration issued pursuant to the terms of this chapter. A written list of such fees shall be on file in the office of plumbing inspector for public inspection during regular business hours.
(c) Definitions. Company means any association, firm, partnership, corporation or other legal entity. (Ord. No. G-85-17, § 1, (Title 6, §§ 1--3), 12-12-85)
