Sec. 15-45.4. False alarms.


(a) Prohibition. An alarm user may not cause or allow a false alarm to occur from any alarm system, whether or not that alarm system is registered pursuant to section 15-45.3.
(b) First offenses. For the first two violations of subsection (a) of this section within a calendar year, the city will not impose a penalty on any alarm user.
(c) Commercial penalties. This subsection applies only to alarm systems located in commercial or other nonresidential sites. The third violation of subsection (a) of this section within the same calendar year constitutes a municipal infraction punishable by a fine of fifty dollars ($50.00). Any fourth or subsequent violation within that calendar year constitutes a municipal infraction punishable by a fine in an amount that increases by fifty dollars ($50.00) over the previous penalty.
(d) Residential penalties. This subsection applies only to alarm systems located in residences. The third violation of subsection (a) of this section within the same calendar year constitutes a municipal infraction punishable by a fine of twenty-five dollars ($25.00). Any fourth or subsequent violation within that calendar year constitutes a municipal infraction punishable by a fine in an amount that increases by twenty-five dollars ($25.00) over the previous penalty.
