Chapter 13 MOTOR VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC*
ARTICLE II. STOPPING, STANDING AND PARKING*
Sec. 13-21. Impoundment of vehicles improperly parked, abandoned, etc.
City employees as designated by the board of aldermen are hereby
vested with the authority and it shall be their duty to impound any unoccupied
vehicle parked in violation of any of the parking regulations of the city or any
vehicle which has been wrecked or abandoned. In addition, a vehicle may be
impounded if there are five (5) or more unpaid parking citations which have
remained unpaid for more than ten (10) days. A vehicle so impounded shall be
kept at a place to be designated by the director of public safety, chief of
police or superintendent of parking and may be released to the duly identified
and lawful owner upon payment of storage, towing and other impounding charges in
addition to any fines and court costs imposed for violation of any traffic
regulations of the city. If after forty-five (45) days the vehicle is not
claimed by the rightful owner, the vehicle will be disposed of through the
