Sec. 12-8. Burial of persons dying from infectious or contagious diseases.


The remains of any person who shall die from cholera, smallpox, diphtheria, typhus fever, meningitis or any other infectious or contagious disease within the city shall, when required by the city health officer, be interred within twenty-four (24) hours after death, and in case of any neglect or refusal, the mayor is authorized to cause such remains to be decently buried and collect the costs thereof from the legal representatives of the deceased. There shall not be any public or church funeral of any person who has died from any disease which, in the opinion of the health officer, may be detrimental to public health. (Code 1953, § 8.5)
