Sec. 6-19. Plumbing and disposal of wastes.


(a) Regulation. All wastes shall be stored and disposed of in conformance with the regulations of the state board of health and mental hygiene. All plumbing shall be so designed, installed and maintained as to prevent contamination of the water supply, food, drink, utensils or equipment. Waste water from refrigeration equipment shall be properly disposed of.
(b) Satisfactory compliance.
(1) All liquid wastes resulting from the cleaning and rinsing of utensils, equipment and floors, from flush toilets, from lavatories and from other equipment are disposed of in a public sewer or, in the absence of a public sewer, in accordance with the regulations of the state board of health and mental hygiene or the city, whichever applies.
(2) All plumbing complies with the Plumbing Code of the city and is so designed and installed as to prevent contamination of the water supply through interconnections and backsiphonage from fixtures and equipment and to prevent contamination of food, drink, food-bearing surfaces, utensils and equipment through sewage backflow.
(3) All garbage not quickly disposed of through automatic garbage grinders and all trash is kept in tight, nonabsorbent and easily washable receptacles, which are covered with close-fitting lids.
(4) All garbage, trash and other waste materials are removed from the premises as frequently as may be necessary to prevent nuisance, overflow, unsightliness, rat harborage and food for rats, and are disposed of in a manner satisfactory to the deputy state health officer.
(5) All garbage receptacles are washed thoroughly when emptied and, if necessary, treated to prevent nuisance.
(6) Class III itinerant establishments are equipped with a waste receiving tank of at least fifty gallon capacity, unless connected to a proper waste disposal facility.
(7) Drainage from coils or other dripping inside the refrigerator space is collected and conducted to the outside of the refrigerator where it is disposed of properly.
