Sec. 6-11. Lighting.


(a) Regulation. All rooms or areas in which food or drink is stored or prepared or in which utensils are washed shall be well lighted.
(b) Satisfactory compliance.
(1) Artificial light sources are provided which furnish at least fifteen foot-candles on all working surfaces in rooms or areas in which food or drink is prepared or in which utensils are washed, as measured by a suitable light meter, and are in use except when equivalent natural light is present. This intensity of lighting does not apply to the dining room.
(2) The lighting level in storage rooms is at least ten foot-candles measured at a distance of thirty inches above the floor.
(3) The lighting level in toilet rooms is at least ten foot-candles measured at a distance of thirty inches above the floor. See also section 6-13.
