ARTICLE IV. HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
Sec. 2-35. Membership criteria.
(a) In accordance with the minimum professional requirements of the
United States Department of the Interior for certifying local governments under
36 C.F.R. Part 61, at least two (2) members of the commission must possess
professional or academic training in such fields as history, architecture,
architectural history, planning, archeology, anthropology, curation,
conservation, landscape architecture, historic preservation, urban design or
related disciplines. This requirement may be satisfied by, at a minimum, two (2)
years of experience as a professional or a Bachelor’s degree in one or
more of the above-listed fields. In addition, at least two (2) members of the
commission must possess specific knowledge in one or more of the above-listed
fields. This requirement may be satisfied by formal post-secondary education,
employment, or practical experience in one or more of these fields.
(b) All
members of the commission, including those qualified by professional or academic
training or specific knowledge, must possess a demonstrated special interest in
historic preservation. This requirement may be satisfied by formal training in
historic preservation, professional or volunteer experience with a
preservation-related organization, or active membership in a
