The director of community services shall oversee the operation of the department, administer programs and services to assist disadvantaged and limited income residents of the city and to alleviate the problems and effects of poverty in the city, advise the community action board of the city, attend meetings as required by the mayor and board of aldermen, and perform such other duties as may be required by the mayor and board of aldermen.
